The Coalition for Green Capital (CGC) lauded the New York Green Bank’s October 2014 announcement to begin deployment of approximately $200 million in public financing to leverage an additional $600 million of private investment. To date, green banks (often referred to as clean energy financing authorities) have launched in Connecticut, Hawaii, and California. According to CGC executive director Jeffrey Schub, the non-profit is working with partners in Minnesota and Vermont to develop proposals for clean energy financing by public-private partnerships. New York’s efforts will boost deployment of distributed generation and facilitate energy efficiency upgrades across multiple sectors.
