Through its specialty division, Sunbelt Rentals offers large air conditioners and chillers, heaters, and de-humidifiers. The majority of the company’s self-contained heaters are flameless. A flameless heater captures the heat from the exhaust, radiator and the shearing of hydraulic fluid, notes Roland Reesby, director of industrial climate control. “The majority of the rentals we have go to areas where you have to have fire watches, where with a machine like this, you don’t have to have a fire watch because there’s no flame,” says Reesby. Flameless units are typically rented where a flame is of concern, such as at an oil well site or at a hospital where an addition is being constructed, he adds. Units are on trailers and range from 600,000 to 950,000 BTUs. “It’s a very green machine because it’s very fuel efficient, capturing all of the waste heat coming off of the engine,” says Reesby. Sunbelt also offers air conditioners with variable frequency drives (VFD), which dials up or down to match the needed conditions. The company’s large chillers also have VFD. The company can provide a wireless Sunbelt Air Monitoring System, a device in a Pelican case with sensors inside of it for the gateway for projects in which condition documentation is required. Sensors are placed inside of the facility and communicate with the gateway. Some 200 to 300 sensors can be set for each gateway. End users can access information online. Alarms can be set and alerts given if temperatures exceed a set point.
